Technology & Internet Access
A heartfelt thank you to the Still Ain’t Satisfied Foundation and various individual donors for supporting our community with access to technology!
El Colegio is able to provide all students a Chromebook if they do not have access to a computer at home. We can also provide mobile internet hotspots for families who do not have internet access at home.
El Colegio has ordered additional devices, and will coordinate delivering those materials to families as the orders arrive. Until then, we ask students with smartphones to use the Google Classroom app on their phone, and El Colegio will continue to drop off physical copies of classwork weekly.
Families may also qualify for free internet access through Comcast:
Comcast is offering free internet access to low-income households. The application is in both English and Spanish. Please let El Colegio staff know if you are applying for the service and if you need any assistance with the application.
Update 4/10: The application deadline has been extended to 5/13. Families with unpaid Comcast/Xfinity bills can still qualify for the program.
“New Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service, which is available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month plus tax. Apply by May 13, 2020.“
“Households with outstanding debt owed to Comcast may be eligible for Internet Essentials. We are waiving this qualification if you apply and are approved by 5/13/20. After 5/13/20, standard eligibility rules apply.”
