What is Juventud Conectada?

Juventud Conectada is the after school program of El Colegio Charter School. It originated as a group of youth leaders in 2009, and its mission was to amplify youth voice in the after school and daytime programming. It now has blossomed into the entire program where we focus on youth leadership, academics, and community development during out of school time.

What We Offer:

FREE after school programming for middle school and high school students. Our program runs Monday—Thursday from 4:15-5:30 during the school year. We have monthly fun fieldtrips. Annual fieldtrips JC has taken include camping, haunted houses, movies, skiing and amusement parks. We provide a light snack.

Our programs are designed to both support students academically, and to prepare them for their next academic achievement, whether that’s going to high school or college. We offer:

  • Academic support
  • ACT prep
  • El Colegio Credit recovery
  • Sexual education
  • Health and fitness
  • Creative Writing Classes
  • Lyrics and Beat Making
  • Aztec dance
  • Art
  • Leadership

Mission Statement

The mission of Juventud Conectada is to empower Latino youth to reach their individual potential through academic support, community development, and leadership opportunities.

Is there a summer program?

Yes. Juventud Conectada has a summer program for teens looking to do something fun and build their skills in math and reading. In addition, we have enrichment classes that engage youth and develop their skill sets in leadership, community development, and academics.

Want to Volunteer?

Volunteers are an integral part of our community. From parents to college students, we strive to work with the community for the community.  Volunteers assist students in one-on-one homework help and support staff facilitate small youth groups. They also play an important part in our big events. Please email us if you are interested in becoming an after school volunteer at volunteer@el-colegio.org or call at 612-728-5728.
